Classroom Battles go head to head with the iconic blue hedgehog. It’s a race to the finish as
classic music from the Sonic series is re-imagined, remixed, and relooped (de-loop) and
performed live in a one-off Sonic extravaganza. Don’t get left in the dust and miss out on what is
sure to be Sonic’s funkiest interpretation to date.

Irish/French indie/electronic quartet Classroom Battles could not resist the invitation to
perform at the iDIG Music Festival at Dublin’s Convention Centre
in April 2015. The iDIG Music Festival is the first gaming community music event held in Ireland
and has partners such as Google, Microsoft, and Comcast. Apart from being in the illustrious
company of a number of Grammy and BAFTA-nominated composers such as Christopher Tin
(Civilization), Russell Bower (World of Warcraft Composer and Head of Music – Blizzard) and
Ireland’s own Eimear Noone (Zelda) along with the composers of the Angry Birds Soundtrack
among others.

The challenge set out by the festival curator to “put together a solid hour of unique and original
game music” not only stirred the musical juices of the band but also unleashed their
imaginative madness. The music from the Sonic series was top of the list for the band; being
children of the ’90s, the blue hedgehog was an obvious and popular choice.

Classroom Battles have been busy since the release of their debut EP ‘This Weeks Question’ in
2014.

  • Received significant CMJ College Radio support across the U.S. (eg. #3 Alaska, #10 New
    Jersey).
  • “Call to Arms” featured as “Song of the Day” 02.01.2014 at KROQ Los Angeles.
  • Their self-directed videos have premiered on leading music blogs such as noisey/vice.com,
Virgin’s Red Room, MTV Iggy, Zimbio.com
  • “This Week’s Question Remix E.P.” reached #21 in the UK Music Week Club Dance Charts
  • Featured on the Landmark Theatre USA music playlist for April 2014

Classroom Battles are spearheaded by 22-year-old lead singer Tigrane Minassian, a graduate of
the Cannes Film School, who worked on Woody Allen’s Oscar-nominated “Midnight in Paris,”
and veteran producer/writer Martin Clancy, various Billboard Top 40 dance hits, certified
Ableton Live Trainer and Artist in Residence New York Seaport Music Festival.

Classroom Battles are completing their new EP “Good News For Tigers“ recorded in France and
Dublin it will be released in May 2015.

“Classroom Battles are a band to watch out for. Smoothly and stealth-like they’ll
grab you!”
Stefan Olsdal (Placebo)

“Classroom Battles are an Irish-French collective specializing in gloriously
infectious electropop”
Jim Carroll (Irish Times)

“Classroom Battles, one of the best mixes of modern and classic sounds since
the late Depeche Mode.”
Heather Traficano (Music Underground)

Mikey Gallagher (Hed Kandi Radio America) Rating : 10 / 10 !
